Crew Member
Job Summary: As a member of the landscaping team, you will be an integral part of a team responsible for maintaining and beautifying outdoor spaces. You will work under the direction of a supervisor to perform various landscaping-related tasks, such as mowing, pruning, planting, and general grounds maintenance. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a passion for creating visually appealing outdoor environments.
Job Type: Full time: 40 hours per week with occasional overtime opportunities.
Per hour: varies based on experience.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Ground Maintenance: Mow grass regularly using lawnmowers, mowers, or other assigned equipment. Trim and edge lawns, sidewalks and flower beds to maintain a clean, manicured appearance. Remove weeds, debris and trash from landscaped areas. Prune trees, shrubs and hedges to promote healthy growth and maintain desired shapes.
2. Planting and Mulching: Help plant flowers, trees, shrubs and other vegetation according to landscape plans. Spread mulch, soil or other planting materials to improve soil quality and moisture retention. Water newly planted vegetation as needed and adjust irrigation systems as directed.
3. Landscape improvement: Participate in seasonal cleanup projects, including leaf removal, snow removal, and winterizing irrigation systems.
4. Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment for you and team members. Comply with local regulations and environmental guidelines regarding gardening practices and chemical use. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and handle chemicals according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Operational skills:
Ability to operate most small engine equipment used daily, including but not limited to: zero-turn ride-on mower, walk-behind mower, string trimmer, steel edger, trencher, hedge trimmer and skid steer.
